Dragon - large sculpture
handmade in high-fired white raku clay - stoneware
includes Certificate of Authenticity.
A high-fired (quite durable) handmade white raku (clay type) sculpture. Featuring a dragon (drake), that has crawled up from the earth and onto the rock / mountain upon which is climbs.
The dragon feels to be on a mission - a mission of discovery, to learn, grow and explore this vast world. Showing his teeth, this dragon is lovable, dynamic and leaves quite the impact.
During the first firing (bisque) the upper part of this sculpture exploded. It was originally more of a tree style. The explosion didn't damage the piece or dragon at all. A couple of superficial cracks have been filled with glaze - and pose no problems (unless it was to be picked up by the thin point - not advised). The explosion left the peak of the rock / mountain looking rugged, pointy and is a spectacular backdrop for this striking dragon.
