Arts & Craft Newsletter - Campbell Town Tasmania - October 2024

Edition 7 | October 2024
From the editor:

We had a few good group sessions throughout September as we started the month playing with some polymer clay, played with some basic colour theory ideas, and did some sketching ‘en plein air’ (outside) at Ross.

The weather is slowly warming and hopefully as we move through the year we can do some more outside activities.

Moving forward we will trial a ‘BYO’ approach – so for October’s Tuesday sessions you’re encouraged to bring your own activity to do and the materials you need to do it. Our Saturday session for October (26th) will see us return to Ross as we walk the street and do some photography (our phones make great cameras).

The MIDLANDS group exhibition filled up with entries in what I decided as ‘record time’ – well over a month before applications were actually due to close. This is a great sign and I can’t wait to see all of the lush Midlands inspired creations on display (23 Nov – 1 Jan).

Our new Gallery & Art Hub – Harmony on High Street – in Campbell Town is progressing well towards opening. More on this below.

Hopefully October is inspiring to you,

Best wishes,

Lee-Anne Peters

Harmony on High Street - UPDATE

Cory and I have been busy painting throughout September. Aside from leaving a couple of featured beams, the olive green old walls have been transformed into a fresh and neutral stone colour. This has drastically improved the whole area and should set off the hanging works very nicely.

After we lay some carpet in our exhibition room, then it will be full steam ahead with displays, hanging picture rail systems, and getting everything ready to receive the artworks and creations.

It looks like there will be around 20 x artists selling works – with 5 x of us being from our region.
