Earrings Everywhere!

In January 2023, I was lucky enough to do a 2 x day workshop making my own porcelain earrings using the Nerikome technique - with teacher Nanna Bayer.

In Nerikome, coloured poreclain is layered together to form patterns and shapes. These are then sliced and moulded to make thin shapes suitable for earrings. Holes are pushed through them too so there is somewhere to thread the wire through.

On the first day we made the porcelain pieces, and on the second we worked with our goldsmith teacher Nataša Milenović to learn how to turn our porcelain pieces into actual earrings.

I'd previously made quite a few earrings, however I'd never worked with sterling silver wire or the tools required to roll, bend and cut the wire.

It was all a welcomed challenge and has opened me up to some new techniques both on the ceramic and goldsmithing front.

I've since purchased my own tools and Sterling Silver wire to attempt making more earrings in my own studio.

This is a work in progress, however I look forward to turning some good rings and improving with the techniques I've learned.

Once my skills have improved I will add some Sterling Silver Nerikome porcelain earrings to this website.
